Blasphemous: Alcazar of Grief is an arcade-stylized minigame that can be played on the arcade machine found in the Desecrated Cistern. Each attempt costs
2500. The minigame comprises three levels: path to the castle, castle chambers, and dungeons. The main objective is to find all five Golden Skulls and reach the end of the last level. The reward for beating the game is Archaic Exaltation skin.
Location[]
The arcade machine is located in a hidden room to the right of where the Silver Grape is. The Nail Uprooted from Dirt is required to reach the place; then the Penitent One needs to slide under the wall.
Fastest way to access the arcade from any place requires also Linen of Golden Thread, unlocked Prie Dieu teleportation, and the relevant gate in the Desecrated Cistern to be open. Teleport to the Prie Dieu next to Tres Angustias boss room, ride up the elevator, then drop down the shaft to land in the middle of it, and continue right.
Gameplay[]
The moveset of the Penitent One is severely limited compared to the main game. Crouching and sliding are unavailable. Prayers, blood attack and other abilities cannot be used, and there is no inventory. Similarly to Penitence of the Bleeding Heart, the Penitent One's health bar is replaced by health orbs. There are three orbs, and each received hit takes away one of them. They can be replenished by collecting chicken legs found in walls and treasure chests.
If the Penitent One loses all three health orbs or falls down a pit, the minigame ends and the player must pay another
2500 to start a new run.
Optionally, the Penitent One may also collect gems, which yield a small amount of Tears of Atonement upon exiting the minigame.
Certain walls can be destroyed with a slash of the sword, uncovering a collectible or a hidden passage.
Enemies[]
Stylized version of the following enemies can be encountered in the game:
- Enraged Pilgrim
- Winged Face
- Hopper
- Guardainfante (as a boss)
Each enemy can be killed with a single sword slash, with the exception of the Guardainfante.
Golden Skull Locations[]
- First room of the first level, a chest appears out of the ground on a small elevated platform. Jump into the plant to the right and it should reveal itself behind the back of the Penitent One.
- First room of the second level, hidden in the steps of the raised platform with retracting blades.
- Third room of the second level, in a chest hidden in a wall to the left.
- Fourth room of the second level, hidden in a wall at the end of the shaft of the descending platform.
- Fifth room of the third level, in a chest hidden in a wall to the right, between two gargoyle heads shooting flames.
To unlock the reward, all the skulls must be collected in one go.
Trivia[]
- Alcazar is a word for a Spanish castle or fortress.
- The chiptune soundtrack of the minigame has been composed by Sergio de Prado.
- In the second room of the third level you can walk into the wall next to the chest, bringing you to a green tinted room that has the skin The Adventure. You cannot break the wall - you simply walk through it. You do not have to defeat the boss to keep the skin once you've attained it.
