Blasphemous 2 follows it's predecessors footsteps in being a difficult side scrolling, action platformer, Metroidvania with soulslike storytelling elements. The game incentivizes player freedom and expression with many new ways to explore and battle. Developed by The Game Kitchen and published by Team17. A sequel to Blasphemous (2019), the game was released for Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S on August 24, 2023.
The second scripture in the Blasphemous series portends the return of The Penitent One, with a story that continues from the free Wounds of Eventide DLC for the original game, where The Heart in the sky heralded the return of The Miracle and foretold the birth of a new miracle child.
Awakened in a strange new land, and displaced from his final resting place, The Penitent One is thrust back into the endless cycle of life, death, and resurrection, with no other option than to explore this perilous new world and uncover its long-forgotten secrets.
Hordes of grotesque enemies stand in your way, awaiting final judgement by the brutal hand of the Penitent One, with titanic twisted bosses also lurking in the darkness, waiting for their chance to return you to the grave from whence you came.

Plot[]
The story of Blasphemous 2 takes place in Cvstodia, however an undescript amount of time has passed since the first game in the series. Memories of the past only known by few, forgotten by most. After all this time The Miracle is still punishing those regretful, sinful and wicked with cruel and unusual punishments, despite the events of Wounds of Eventide.
With the Mea Culpa long gone, the Penitent One awoken once more must adapt even further in these new lands. With the help of Anunciada, and the newfound strength of his new arsenal the Penitent One must stop the creation of a Miracle born child, battling and assisting those afflicted by The Miracle and putting long tormented souls to rest.
The Penitent One's guilt is his strength; penance is no longer possible. But in the end, it is his own will to decide if his guilt is enough to earn him salvation.
