The following are in-game objects and places that define the way the Penitent One interacts with the universe of Cvstodia.

Execution

Using special Mea Culpa attacks to kill certain enemies or interrupt their attack animation regardless of health will put them in a staggered state, indicated by them flashing red and an interaction prompt above them. Interacting will initiate an Execution, restoring fervour and granting bonus Tears of Atonement.

Dodging

Dodging or sliding is a base mechanic from the start of the game that allows you to gain invulnerablility for a short period of time. Several rosary beads can be use to augment several aspects of dodging, including Fourth Toe made of Limestone and Little Toe made of Limestone.

Air Impulse

An air impulse is achieved by holding down and hitting an object or enemy while you're in the air, giving you a small boost up to two times before landing. Equipping the Big toe made of Limestone gives you the ability to do this 4 times in a row instead.

Fall Stun

A fall stun occurs when you drop for a high place. You can slightly negate these effects with Piece of a Tombstone but if you are stun locked while landing if there is an enemy there, you will be hit.

Ladder Jump

To preform a ladder jump, press jump and then right after up, doing that multiple times up the ladder. This makes platforming challenges significantly easier, especially the ones found in Miriam's Challenge.

Blood Penance

The Penitent One can exchange health for fervor by using Mea Culpa. To do this, press down and Ferverous Blood (does not need to be unlocked) at the same time. Doing so will cost you 100 Tears of Atonement.
