Desecrated Cistern

The Desecrated Cistern is a very large sewer with passages to several areas. It is first accessed via Mercy Dreams, but there are also passages to Wasteland of the Buried Churches, Albero, Mountains of the Endless Dusk, and Grievance Ascends. Upon first entering the area after defeating Ten Piedad, Deogracias will be standing next to the Prie Dieu altar and tell The Penitent One that he has completed the First Humiliation, and two more remain.

Area obstacles include climbable walls, poison balls that fall from pipes, ladders, deep water, and sections of toxic gas. Many of the enemies deal poison damage.

There are two puzzle rooms in this area. The first requires the Shroud of Dreamt Sins. To reveal the hidden room, enter and exit from the right twice and then enter and exit from the left four times. The second puzzle room has three mosaic pictures of three different enemies on the wall. Interact with the statue at the end of the room and then defeat the three pictured enemies without dying or using a Chapel of Travel and the gate on the other side of the room will open, revealing a Mea Culpa Altar.

Additionally, there is a Sanguine Fountain and two instances of the Lady of the Six Sorrows in this area.

There is no boss in the Desecrated Cistern.

	Scaphoid of Fierce, the Leper Left from the Prie Dieu altar and up, on the platform above a doorway.
	Empty Bile Vessel In a silver chest all the way at the end of the room above the passage to Mercy Dreams.
	Black Grieving Veil Inside a room with sections of toxic gas, on a platform above the doorway. The closed gate in front of it can be opened using a lever in the room.
	Calcaneum of Persian, the Bandit Just outside of the Collectibles room.
	Severed Hand In the room before the fountain. Requires Nail Uprooted from Dirt to reach.
	Navicular of Kahnnyhoo, the Murderer In the vertical corridor with the elevator, on a platform on the right side. Requires Linen of Golden Thread to reach.
	Hyoid bone of Senex, the Beggar In room across from Mea Culpa altar, all the way to the right. Requires Nail Uprooted from Dirt to reach. Silvered Lung of Dolphos recommended.
	Chalice of Inverted Verses In the secret room with three mosaic pictures of enemies. Required to reveal the Mea Culpa altar. Requires Nail Uprooted from Dirt to reach.
