This mysterious character, Gémino, is a prisoner inside a metal statue in the snowy hills of Where Olive Trees Wither. It's assumed that he was put here by members of the Church as punishment for some criminal act.

Upon speaking with him for the first time, he will ask the Penitent One to fetch him the sacred olive oil used by the sisters of the Convent of Our Lady of the Charred Visage. He will then gift Golden Thimble, which is used to carry the oil. The sacred olive oil can be found in a chalice after the boss room of Our Lady of the Charred Visage. The oil cannot be collected without the Golden Thimble. After Gémino dies, a blooming bed of flowers and the Frozen Olive can be found where Gémino was standing.

If one boss is defeated after entering Where Olive Trees Wither, Gémino's arm will turn into a branch. If another is defeated after entering the area, he will become completely entombed with the tree and die.

Once the Penitent One enters Where Olive Trees Wither for the first time, Gémino's quest will begin even if he has not been spoken to.

Gémino's quest has three potential outcomes, depending on when the quest is completed.

• If Gémino is brought the oil before he is fully entombed, an entrance to Engracia's tomb will be revealed nearby. Placing the Dried Flowers Bathed in Tears upon the coffin will cause it to open, and jumping into it will lead down into the tomb where the Saeta Dolorosa can be found. Reload the area to find a bed of blooming flowers and the Frozen Olive where Gémino once stood.

• If Gémino is entombed by the time he is given the oil, he will be frozen after reentering the area and the Frozen Olive can be found at his feet. The tomb and prayer Saeta Dolorosa can be accessed using the Linen of Golden Thread.

• If Gémino is completely ignored he will become fully entombed after two bosses are defeated. The Golden Thimble will be at his feet, and can still be filled with oil and given to Gémino's corpse. After giving the oil and reloading the area, the Frozen Olive can be found at his feet. The tomb and prayer Saeta Dolorosa can be accessed using the Linen of Golden Thread.

First Encounter	Contrite and humiliated be the heart, Penitent One in silence. You stand before what remains of Gémino. Oh, do not fret for me. The cold is merciful, for it relieves our pain and numbs us before it leads us to our deaths. Perhaps the Miracle the others spoke of has come to me, here in this iron tomb, lengthening distress more and more... To a promised land you direct your march, to the place where the frozen and the burning embrace in communion... Now, let my numbed arm become another branch of this withered olive tree. Hurry up, I can still hear the call.
Continuing to speak with him	Let me ask of you the favour of bringing me a few drops of the oils that once came out of these icy olive trees, the ones that ended up scorching the faces of every pious person who ever reached the summit. As my last wish, before it is too late for me, let me feel that pain. Take this.

Relevant Items Descriptions

Frozen Olive As Gemino traversed the path of the Frozen Olive Trees with the rest of the damned, towards the terrible hollow metal statues where those that awaited would die abandoned, he stepped barefoot on a fallen olive that had not yet disappeared under the snow. Without drawing attention, he picked it up and squeezed it in his hands, knowing it would be the last thing he'd treasure.

• Gemino's appearance is inspired by Il Sodoma's painting Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian. It depicts Saint Sebastian, an early Christian martyr and saint, tied to a tree and pierced by arrows.
