"Billowing clouds of dust herald your arrival.
Dust in the air that is born from the erosion of the walls, the statues and our own bones...
These stones heard so many sins that they could do no more than succumb, shuddering, before their guilty echoes.
Echoes that could not bear the seclusion that I imposed upon them and that escaped from me...
Crawling along these walls, eroding them until their immaculate ashes buried us all.
Penitent One, you will now reveal your sins, those that your tears can never atone for."
Great Preceptor Radamés is a boss from Blasphemous 2 located in Sacred Entombments, who was tasked by the Miracle to guard one of the Three Regrets needed to unlock the Elevated Temples.
His initial appearance seems to be a confessor in a glass case, after his monologue it is revealed that the glass case is simply on the back of the actual boss. A large skeleton stuck beneath the dirt, carrying a club with numerous dead bodies on it, the glass shards which are used throughout his fight can be seen in his skull, seeming to replicate a crown of thorns.
Yerma will also be located right outside the boss arena, in case her aid is required for this fight. However if her help is rejected, she won't appear again for this boss.
Behaviour and Tactics[]
- Downward Swipe: Radamés will hold his club up high before swiping down and dealing damage infront of him, can be parried with Sarmiento and Centella and can be easily dodged with a slide or jump.
- Overhead Slam: Radamés will hold his club behind him before his eye flashes red, he will then slam the club down with considerable range, if you are too close to Radamés you will likely get hit. Can be dodged with a slide and can be parried.
- Arcane Magic: Radamés will hold his hand out infront of him and shoot 2 Mystical-element projectiles alternating between low and high. He will cast the spell 3 times as he weakens around 50% HP, and the projectiles will alternate randomly instead. The grabbable walls on the sides of the room can be used to avoid all the projectiles, alternatively the Penitent One can jump and crouch below them.
- Charge: Radamés will cover himself in glass shards before charging towards the Penitent One, the only way to avoid this attack is to grab onto one of the grabbable walls on the side of the arena and jump off before he hits the wall. Which will stun Radamés for a brief period. In phase 2 the attack is faster and harder to avoid and also adding a rain of falling boulders after he hits the wall.
- Magic Orb: If the Penitent One is far enough away from Radamés he will summon orbs on the edge of the room that will explode after a few seconds, these can limit movement options if Radamés gets too close. It is especially dangerous if he uses his glass punch attack right after. In the second phase, up to 3 orbs can be casted.
Phase 2
- Rock Rain: Upon reaching the last quarter of his health Radamés will begin to eat his club, restoring a portion of his HP if not interrupted. While he is recovering health boulders will randomly fall from the top of the screen, which can be easily avoided.
- Glass Wave: Radamés will hold his hands in front of him and shoot 3 separate waves of glass that will move across the floor and up the walls, they can be avoided with simple jumps.
- Glass Punch: Radamés will lift his fist into the air before quickly punching downwards, launching glass shards in a cone area infront of him. Can be avoided with a dash and is very reactable.
- Shard Swipe: If the Penitent One is behind Radamés he will create a glass shard along his arm before swiping backwards quickly. Has low range and can be easily walked away from.
Strategy[]
Radamés' main weakness is that most of his moves leave him immobile, allowing for lots of easy hits if the Penitent One plays aggressively, if he is doing his arcane magic attack or his glass wave attack it is recommended to get close enough to dodge and to be able to deal damage. Veredicto is very useful for this because of its long range. During his phase transition or when he is stunned the player should use any powerful attacks that take a while to use, the charged attack of the Veredicto is a good example and you earn it in the same area you encounter Radamés.
His health is high for most early game bosses so if you are struggling you can always use Yerma for help, as her attacks offer extreme damage rather regularly. Any equipment that can reduce physical damage is recommended, Radamés' magical attacks are easy to avoid and do little damage compared to his physical attacks which are the main threat in his fight.
Whenever he gets stuck on a wall, employ Peteneras to the Burial of the Lights for massive damage.
Flawless Penance Strategy[]
Radamés is by far the easiest Boss to obtain this Achievement. Being an early Boss, his movepool is not complex, furthermore he is very slow and telegraphes his attacks with ample room, and Yerma will also provide important support in shortening the fight.
Repeat the above strategy, but also prepare some extra steps: Obtain and equip The Purified One altarpiece easily found in the Aqueduct of the Costales. Unlock the Fiery Striker from Veredicto using Marks of Martyrdom. Avoid Radamés' attacks and hit him, but control your damage so as to not trigger the second phase. As he lunges at you and gets stuck in a wall, utilize Peteneras, which will deal considerable damage and leave him significantly weakened. As the second phase starts, Radamés HP will be at minimum, just hack at the remainder of its HP and the battle will be won, without taking damage.
