Attacking[]Use the ATTACK button to attack using Mea Culpa. After two landed hits, the third attack will be a more powerful one. Once Mea Culpa is upgraded, the combo length will be increased to 4, receiving three different variations for the fourth attack, depending on the direction pressed (up, down or no direction). |
Jumping[]Press JUMP to thrust into the air. The height of the jump depends on how long the button is pressed, and left and right directions can be used to guide the Penitent One while airborne. |
Dashing[]Use the DODGE action to slide through small spaces, avoid physical attacks and pass through enemies without suffering damage. |
Blocking[]This maneuver allows the Penitent One to block attacks. With some enemies, after an attack is blocked, the enemy will be stunned, which allows to perform a Righteous Riposte, a powerful attack that in turn might open up for an Execution. |
Execution[]Some of the Penitent One's attacks can stun certain enemies. Press INTERACT to execute stunned enemies. Ending an enemy in this way grants a bonus of Fervour and Tears of Atonement. |
Air Impulse[]Hold DOWN and briefly press ATTACK in the air to get a small upwards boost after hitting a target (can be an enemy or any object that can be hit). It can be done up to two times before landing. |
Wall Climbing[]Press ATTACK and towards the wall when jumping against certain surfaces to thrust the Mea Culpa into the wall. While hanging, press JUMP or BLOCK to jump down. |
Downwards Attack[]Once you get the Weight of Sin ability, press and hold DOWN + ATTACK in the air, to perform a downwards attack that can damage enemies below. Once the Justice of Consecration, the attack becomes much powerful, damaging any enemies close to the Penitent One. After obtaining Consecration, the attack is improved to generate a column of divine light that damages everything it touches. |
Blood Penance[]Hold DOWN + RANGED ATTACK to make The Penitent One sacrifice his own blood (one-sixth of base health) as well as 100 Tears of Atonement in exchange for Fervour (one and a quarter bars worth). |
