"A curse on you. A curse on your shadow beneath the dark waters that writhes around knotted in strange hieroglyphics. A curse on your white scales that reflect the pale light of our moons. A curse on the jewels that adorn your shapeless necks. And a cursed on the Eye, your golden eye that beckons to men and storms to die before you."
Sierpes is a boss in Blasphemous, introduced as one of the two additional bosses from the Wounds of Eventide DLC, (the other one being Isidora). It is located in Mourning and Havoc.
This boss is an extremely long snake of colossal size, so long in fact that its body is part of the background of its own bossfight scenario, surrounding an enormous tower composed of broken, old ships.
Sierpes' neck is adorned with jewelry, along with horns on its head and a tongue with the shape of fused bodies. Sierpes' most key feature is its golden right eye, the Fourth Visage's eye which ironically, is a left one.
Behavior and Tactics[]
The name of the attacks are not official
Sierpes has three phases, which are transitioned when he is at 75% health and 25%,respectively.
His main attacks are:
•Fang Charge: Sierpes emits a powerful roar sending sound waves across the screen and the proceeding after a few seconds to charge at the player with high speeds. It is most likely guaranteed that this is his first attack at the start of the boss fight. To simply avoid this, run to the opposite side and stay there until it is finished.During the retreat period its tongue is visible allowing for extra damage.
•Energy Ball Waves: Sierpes sends out multiple energy beams in zig-zag patterns that activate after a short time. The energy balls can be avoided by staying close to its mouth. This attack can vary once the player has reached the second or even the third phase.
•Energy Ball Spawner: Sierpes reveals its pointy tail to be surrounded by energy balls that circle around it and then proceeds to aim them directly at the player.Once in contact they damage the player and leave behind a lightning trail.
•Tail plunge: Sierpes hides its tail for a few seconds under his body and then rises it up in an circular motion. To avoid this attack you need to pay attention under the main platform the player is standing for any pointy tails. In third phase however once this attack is triggered multiple tails arise and remain there for a much bigger duration than the previous phases or when Sierpes's head switches sides.
•Teeth Trail: Sierpes's teeth appear in a straight line starting from the furthest point of the arena to his head.Because the teeth are not very large in proportion it is advised to just jump over them once near you.

Trivia[]
- Sierpes takes direct inspiration from a story from Sevilla's folklore, related to a street named "Sierpes". According to the story, around the 15th century, children began to go missing without explanation. Don Alfonso de Cárdenas, the town's mayor, received an anonymous letter in which this mysterious person would reveal who was behind the disappearances in exchange of freedom. This man was Melchor de Quintana y Argüeso, who took part on an act of rebellion against the king and was hiding on the town's underground, where he saw the criminal. When both descended, Don Alfonso was shocked at the reveal that this "criminal" happened to be a giant snake, "as big as a basilisk". The snake was previously killed by Melchor, and the big creature was exposed on the streets. This event lead to the street receiving the name of "Sierpes".
