"Who are you, whose face and name you keep hidden? No... Your name is of no consequence if your footsteps have led you to me. Yerma is mine own."

Yerma is a spear-wielder warrior that crosses paths with the Penitent One.

She is a survivor of the events of Two Moons caused by the Miracle's will, which made people transform into horrible monsters, one of them being Svsona. Yerma reveals that it was actually Svsona who caused this event, due to her vanity and obsession with her own beauty, after praying to the Miracle that no one else could see her beautiful reflection on the lake. Because of this, Yerma is now on a quest to murder Svsona.

She is first encountered on Profundo Lamento, and gives the Penitent the Steely Battle Lance, allowing him to access the Weapon Memories and use the Marks of Martyrdom on his weaponry.

After this she will appear on other specific locations, offering her aid to defeat the following bosses:

If Yerma's help is rejected she will permanently dissapear from the area, and won't be encountered until reaching one of the next boss mentioned above.

To complete her quest, the Penitent one must give Yerma the Holy Oil of Everlasting Anointment before entering the room above her, which contains the mirror that unlocks Svsona's bossroom, otherwise she will die. If the Penitent refuses to aid Yerma despite giving her the item, she will also perish.

Depending of the outcome, the rewards will be swapped.

If Yerma lives:

  • The player will be rewarded with the Zejel of the Cruelest Thorn.
  • Chisel-Engraved Wounds will be aviable to purchase on Casto's shop for 8 9000.

If Yerma dies:

  • Interacting with her corpse will give the player the Chisel-Engraved Wounds.
  • Zejel of the Cruelest Thorn will be aviable to purchase on Casto's shop for 8 6000.

Dialogue[]

When met for the first time on Profundo Lamento Who are you, whose face and name you keep hidden?

No... Your name is of no consequence if your footsteps have led you to me. Yerma is mine own.

But this is not the right moment, for the steps that my promise inspires are swift, and the will that directs them unshakeable.

This hatred, which blinds my reason with shadows... I must leave at once.

Before the first boss where Yerma can participate (Either Radamés, or Afilaor) Here our wills cross once again, O nameless Penitent One.

For a long time now, my life has been naught but a constant struggle to fulfill a promise as old as these lands.

Is it your wish to meet her?

● (If you say yes, Yerma will reveal lore related to herself, and the events of Two Moons)

When I was but a girl, I was able to escape the horror of deformity engendered by the Miracle. A Miracle that chose the clean reflection of the still waters of a lake to reveal the truth it held in store for each of those who gazed within it.

The old bell, which had fallen to the bottom of the lake many years before, began to ring, making the waters ripple to its eerie chime.

Our reflected faces began to distort before our terrified gazes.

And the Miracle ended up capturing that work, that disfigured horror on the waters, as if it were a fresco, making everything that had been reflected in them disappear.

As I fled, I turned my gaze towards the lake and beheld that ghastly event from afar.

● (If you say no, her dialogue will skip directly to the following:)

Penitent One, can you not hear it? We find ourselves in the confines of one of the ill-fated forms of the Miracle that yearns to meet thee.

Do you wish me to join you in your next confrontation?

● (If the player says "yes")

There you shall find me and in communion we shall fight.

● (If the player says "no")

Then I shall continue my search. Until our next meeting, Penitent One.

Before the second boss where Yerma can participate (Either Radamés, or Afilaor) Penitent One, our bond led us to victory, but it was not the victory I long for.

Is it your wish that I continue with the story of my promise?

● (If you say yes, Yerma will continue the story of Two Moons)

Indeed, it was the Miracle's will that made the bell ring, but it was the lady's sin that brought the curse down upon us.

The lady, the most beautiful of women who lived in the palace by the lake, lived to admire her own beauty, which she believed to be unnaturally divine. The reflection of the lake in which she admired herself returned her own beauty with yet more intensity and splendour, keeping her spellbound for days.

Desiring that reflected perfection for herself, she prayed to the lake that no one else might see that reflection. As she looked at her reflection one more time, she saw her face distort to the sound of a terrible tolling that rose up from the lake's sunken bell.

● (If you say no, her dialogue will skip directly to the following:)

Do you wish me to join you in your next confrontation?

● (If the player says "yes")

There you shall find me and in communion we shall fight.

● (If the player says "no")

Then I shall continue my search. Until our next meeting, Penitent One.

On Two Moons, outside Svsona's bossroom Penitent One, we approach our meeting with the lady.

My spear is not ready, it needs one last blessing.

I need your help to find the Holy Oil with which I shall anoint my ornate spear. Then the lady's untruths will be weak to the trusts of my spear.

● (After giving the oil)

My lance already shines with the Oils' glow. I feel my search coming to an end.

Mistress of lies, craftswoman of evil shadows: I know you dwell in these galleries, behind treacherous mirrors. My spear is now ready to carry you to your one true grave.

Penitent One, you are free to accompany me or continue in solitude.

Will you join me in this final confrontation?

● (If the player says "yes")

At last. There you shall meet me and in communion we shall fight.

● (If the player says "no")

[To be added]

After defeating Svsona, with Yerma alive The body of the lady lies before our victorious feet.

Her curse and the curse of this place are lifted. My promise has been fulfilled by dint of your help.

Penitent One, before continuing on your journey, first take this as a sign of our blessed bond.

Steely Battle Lance[]

The night was dark and full of mist. Yerma saw her chance to climb in through an open window, breaking into that old church that discreetly oversaw a far corner of the village. A perfect night for her purpose.

With cat-like agility she climbed down a sculpture on the inner facade, until reaching the cold marble floor. Nobody saw or heard her. She stepped into the temple's blackness, her eyes piercing every shadow in search of her objective. And there it was, on top of an altar at the end of the nave. A silver rod, and old sacred relic that had remained intact despite the centuries. It shone with a glow of its own, like some kind of living thing.

I was said that the rod had been plated with an impossible alloy of oil-anointed silver. Yerma didn't hesitate. She slid from the shadows like a snake, took the rod and felt its cold weight. That argent glow fleetingly reflected in her eyes, revealing them to be full of hate and thirsty for vengeance. Nobody will ever know what happened to that holy artifact.
